A Day in Ocean Adventure and Zoobic Safari

Toddler’s age: 1 year and 6 months

It has been quite a while since we last came to Subic. For us, it had always been only a quick lunch or dinner stop. For this trip, we were looking for a short distance drive with attractions that Summer can enjoy. She was over a year old and it always made us so happy to see her curious and excited about the new things that she sees.

We stayed for two nights at the center of Subic to make restaurants and the stores accessible to us.

Ocean Adventure
First stop was Ocean Adventure located right beside Camaya Beach Resort. It is best to arrive early because their big parking space can fill up quite fast especially on weekends and on holidays. Admission was for the whole day so if you would like to make the most out of the park, it might be easier to stay in Camaya Beach Resort so the whole family can go back and forth if anyone needs to rest.

There were already busloads of people in line to get inside when we arrived. The whole complex was walkable and was mostly accessible with a stroller in tow. We needed to leave our stroller when we watched the dolphin and sea lion show. Walking around was comfortable because of the cool sea breeze. The pathways were mostly paved and shady because of the many trees. As expected, this attraction was child and family friendly. The shows were scheduled so most visitors could be found in one area at the same time. We got great seats because we made sure to arrive at the venues early. The dolphin show was scheduled after lunch. We bought our food to go and ate it in our seats at the viewing area while others were having lunch at the restaurant to make sure we will get good seats. Among all the shows and attractions, Summer liked the bird show and the dolphin show the best.

Zoobic Safari
We went to Zoobic Safari right after the dolphin show in Ocean Adventure. Our walk here was less comfortable. It was humid and there were very few trees so it was hot. The tram rides from one attraction to another helped to make the tour easier. Summer was awake for the first few attractions but fell asleep just before we were about to ride the jeep to the lion enclosure. She would have loved seeing the lions go up the truck to eat the chicken but she fell asleep during the ride because of the heat. Perhaps we can bring her again next time.

As Summer grows, we find her curiosity about nature and animals fascinating. Because we know that her comprehension is improving everyday, we grab this chance to teach her about the environment and about sharing it with plants, animals and everything else around her.

It was a tiring trip but every smile and laughter made it worth every minute.
